Day 22

So0o0o sleepy. I can't wait to take a nap with my M&M pillow today. I love this thing. I got her at the M&M store on the Vegas strip when I was a freshman in college. I had to have her!! My nickname that my mom has always called me is "Sassy" or "Sas" for short.. I don't really know how I got that name? haha. Anywho, I love the green one because she's sassy like me AND I like to think the "M" stands for "Michelle". You can't see it in the picture, but she has arms and legs... and yup, she's definitely wearing heels.

Hope you all have a splendid day!!!

Pretty much I'm famous.

Day 21

Busy day.... nails with Lindsey, dropped off stuff at storage unit, went to Chick-fil-A to get a milkshake (amazing!), Perimeter Mall to grab something to wear tonight, Laur and Steph's (aka my second home), La Parilla, then out. Phhheewwwww. It all is taking so long due to traffic. My picture says it all. Me + traffic = not friends.

Day 20

My Athens trip was a success. Got in last night, dropped stuff off at Sarah's, Val picked us up and we went to dinner with some friends at Transmet (yum!), then went out. Woke up today at 11:30, picked up Sarah from her classes (she's a TA for Poly Sci!! smarty pants), then we went to my ultimate favorite food place in the whole world.... Marti's at Midday (Martha's Salad Plate is the jam!).

Side note: On my way picking Sarah up, I decided to go for the scenic Athens route. I passed by many of my favorite UGA landmarks, but this one pictured above describes me in a nutshell. If it weren't for Aderhold Hall (education building), who knows where I would be today? I spent way too many hours behind those walls and doors.

After lunch, I went to the Ron Clark Seminar. It was absolutely amazing. He was so inspiring and had some great ideas to share that I'd like to use in my classroom. He brought his students with him who performed the voting song for the campaigns last year. That was SO cool to see. After the seminar, they were selling his books outside. I bought both of them. He was autographing and taking pictures. I was one of the lucky ones who actually got to speak with him and take a "silly picture". After this, I drove back to Sarah's then drove home to ATL making a pit stop at Lauren and Steph's place. However, it turned out being longer than a pit stop. More like 2 hours! We couldn't stop Mad Libbing on our iPhones. SOOO funny! 100% ab workout.

I am sleepyyyyy. Goodnight!

Day 19

Much needed (already planned) trip to Athens. It feels amazing to be back. As I passed Gamma Phi Beta, I remembered the amazing times we all had. I love this place.

Day 18

Today started out lovely and then I became quite ill. I broke out into hives because I felt overwhelmed and then I realized I am also catching a small cold. Great. Awesome. Grand. The later part of my day consisted of CRCT talk and Girl Scout cookies. Nothing truly exciting will be going on tonight. I am sadly skipping out on working out and bible study because a) I feel yucky. and b) I am not ready for my short trip to Athens.

On a positive note, I found out my friend Emily got engaged this weekend! YAY!

Day 17

After the entertaining staff meeting (mostly because of the mug shot of LJ), I decided that I should take a picture at school for my blog tonight. So I took a candid photo of my "cool cat" friend in the front office. Unfortunately, she threatened our friendship if I posted it. I figured that friendship was better than any photo so I deleted it. :( Sad day.

Went to kickboxing after school and kicked some major you know what. The LA Fitness location I went to has a Trader Joe's next door. Um, I love this place. I've been searching high and low for my favorite chicken quesadilla's from there from a few locations and they are always sold out because it one of their "most popular items". Just my luck of course! LUCKILY, they had them tonight! So... OBVIOUSLY I bought three boxes along with other unneeded items.

Thought of the night: I am beginning to feel and look like a creeper when I am taking random pictures in public. haha

Day 16

I went to my two classes at LA Fitness--kickbox cardio and step. Ran into an old friend at the gym...Amy! We used to be such good friends in middle school and high school. I miss her so much! Step was seriously out of control... the mirrors in the room were foggy because of the intense heat. THIS my friends is why I travel to Buckhead every Monday to workout... thank you JOSH! I heart you for making my workouts amazing. On my way home, I heard the "We Are The World" new version on the radio. My favorite part in the whole thing is probably Celine Dion who does Cyndi Lauper's part. My least favorite part is the rap part. I think it ruins the song. For those who don't know, I am a HUGEEEE Celine fan. I saw her once in Vegas and cried during the whole thing and thirty minutes after. I also saw her when she came to Atlanta. I am so excited that she is coming back to Vegas for the next 3 years. Can't wait! I will definitely be planning a trip (or 3 haha) in the near future. This picture was from her Atlanta show last year I believe.

Day 15

Woke up at noon :) Graded some papers, entered them in Easy Grade Pro, made the morning announcements cards, and made my sub plans for Friday. After that, I went running for 30 minutes in my neighborhood. I listened to Pandora stations on my iPhone. I came back to my house to meet my friend Magan. We then went on a long walk around my neighborhood for an hour. It was good to chat about the weekend. We even laughed about old times in high school. I don't think I got rid of my funnel cake and Steak n Shake, but I definitely got some exercise and enjoyed the beautiful sun!

BEST NEWS OF THE DAY: I went on SAMS tonight. SAMS is basically a place on the Internet where teachers can look up info on kids. I was SOOOO surprised to find that the Checkpoints tests were up for math, language arts, and reading. My scores were for the most part AMAZING!!!!!! I had several 100's! WHAT THE HECK? Um, wow. I am SOOO happy!

Tonight is clean my room night then watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians. My guilty pleasure :) I love drama that is not my own!

Day 14

Spent the night at Lauren's last night after a fun night out... 4am Steak n Shake was probably the highlight or maybe it was the fact that everyone in the group ran into an old flame? Hilarious. Spent today with Lauren at her Radio Disney event, UniverSOUL Circus. I helped pass out stickers so I at least was needed :). The weather was beautiful!!! We didn't stay for the actual circus, but we did buy nachos and funnel cake. Oh yeah, we also saw Lisa from the Real Housewives of Atlanta so that was neat. After the circus adventure, we came home and napped. We are such good nappers. After that, Steph came home and we went to my new favorite sushi/Chinese/Hibachi restaurant called Orient Express. It is a restaurant inside of a train in Vinings. It was so cool! I am pretty positive that Lauren and I gained 10 pounds each after this weekend of our horribly unhealthy eating habits. I have to admit that all of it was worth it and I don't regret it because I never do it. I hope tomorrow is as pretty as today because I am in need of a serious workout! Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

Day 13

IT'S FRIDAY!!! :)

okay, yes.... no picture today (I'm really bad at it), but doesn't St.Croix look beautiful and so tempting to just drop everything and go to?? I took this picture last year and all I keep thinking about is how much I want to be on a beach!

Day 12

Overall, I'd say today was fine. We had a bump in the road that changed some things, but I worked around it and everyone ended up happy in the end. Why can't some kids just accept apologies? That's my question of the day. My day ended with me watching the news to find out that a zebra escaped the circus and ran down the highway. He's just tired of doing tricks. He showed them a new trick.... running down 85! I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Day 11

I mentioned last week that I have started attending my bible study again back in Buckhead. It has been one of the greatest decisions I've made in a while. Literally a piece of me was missing without it. I've missed everything.... catching up with my girls, sharing stories, growing closer to the Lord, learning about myself, etc. We have just started a new book that we will be reading together. It is called "The Story" and it's basically a reader friendly version of the bible. I have tried many times to sit down and read the bible in my life. Unfortunately, I have failed at it many times. I feel as though this book will help me read through it easier and possibly will help me understand it better by how it is written. <><

On a different note.... I had a most embarrassing moment today. I'm a girl who likes to do many tasks at once. For example, while I eat, I like to also watch tv, grade papers, and maybe even talk on the phone while texting. Well, I learned today that I am not capable of a lot of tasks on a treadmill. Let's just say I was a few seconds away from busting face because I was too distracted watching a kickboxing class that I was contemplating attending next week. I heard the girl behind me giggle. Glad I could provide some entertainment for someone today... haha :)

Day 10

Early morning=long day. Woke up early, got breakfast from McDonald's (not my favorite--no other choices this early! eh hum, Chick fil a), got gas bc I wouldn't make it to school, and successfully arrived to school at 6:30am. I don't think I've ever arrived this early. Being out of school four days is tough stuff getting all caught up. Luckily, I did everything I needed to before the children got to school. I was pleasantly surprised by a visit from one of my friends, Karen. She is a good friend from college who is student teaching in a 4th grade class at my school. After school, I had a lot to get done... it seems to never end. Once I got out the door at 6:30pm (yes, 12 hours!!!), I decided I'd try to take care of some business at my least favorite place in the whole world... Tires Plus. They don't even deserve a picture on here, but they got it because I forgot to take another one today. Peace, love, and tires.

Day 9

Loved having today off! I went to lunch with friends, shopped (yes, again), and went to my workout classes. I realized I have a receipt problem when I couldn't even semi close my wallet. I spent about thirty minutes reading them.... they dated all the way back to August. I even found my Tennessee/UGA football ticket. You never know what you will find. :) I also realized that I miss Buckhead, but not the traffic!

Day 8

Happy Valentine's Day! Today has been pretty busy... Got a fill in on my pink and whites, got a pedi, went shopping a bit, went to see Valentine's Day the movie along with the rest of Kennesaw, and ate some heart shaped pizza from Papa John's with the roomies. Overall, wonderful day! And to top it off... I am going meet up with some friends for drinks in a bit :) I don't understand how people can be haters of this holiday?

Day 7

I take back my last post. We had so much snow that I got snowed in at my A-MAZING assistant principal's house. We played Rock Band, went to dinner at CANS (um... twice), played in the snow (snow angels, snowballs, AND snowmen--with mohawks!), and giggled endlessly (YESSS!). I came home today and slept for 6 hours straight. Oops. After my ridiculous nap, I went to Zaxby's and picked up dinner for my parents. I know... I'm a good roommate. Currently, I am debating on going out with my friends, but highly doubt it's going to happen.... grading papers, eating chocolate, and watching movies sounds more appealing to be honest.

Shout out to L! Obviously, I stole your picture. I tried to save the one of us four, but for some reason it wouldn't let me, but it would let me save this from your blog. THANKS so much for everything.... rock band, dinner, toothbrushes, breakfast, snowball fights, sleepovers, etc. You are my favorite!

Day 6

Quick!!! There's a blizzard in Atlanta. Grab your milk and bread!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Day 5

Valentine's Day exploded on my desk. I loved today because I got to see the happiest of faces. They were thankful to each other and left with smiles. :)

Day 4

Today was a happy/blessed day. I'm going to switch it up in my posts and list reasons why my day was so great because I have so many....

1) Two people (that I look up to) who rarely give compliments gave me one each today on my teaching. :)
2) I reconnected with my bible study. I stopped going after my move home. I knew parts of me were missing and bible study was def. one of them.
3) I went to Super H Mart (asian grocery store) and had my favorite sushi (featured above). I ate by myself, which is something I have been working on. I'm too dependent on others in certain situations and I am trying to break away. I felt proud I actually did it.
4) I bought sweet Valentine's for my kids. I love everything about the holiday.
5) It snowed this morning!
6) My kids rocked the Checkpoints testing in LA from what I could tell by looking over their shoulders :).
7) I came across a college picture of one of my best friends from a formal that was priceless... enough said.
8) A parent told me words that I have been waiting to hear all year long.
9) A student asked me if a Thesaurus was a type of dinosaur. Oops... guess I need to revisit that one.
10) My kids (or at least the majority) can FINALLY write on their own and they do it well!! Adjectives galoreeeeee.... ahhh, I love being a teacher. Most rewarding job hands down... okay, I'm biased.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

Day 3

Today was full of testing :(. 2 hours of math checkpts in the morning then a math test and pretest this afternoon. Surprisingly enough, the kids did well coping to the different schedule. After school, I went to Stars and Strikes for our end of the season party... hence the downloaded photo--I forgot to take a photo today and this is what you get :) . I think the girls really enjoyed it. I'm going to miss them, but I know I need to just be teaching next year.

Day 2

Yay. I made it to Day 2 :). Today started off rough, but it got much better. Woke up late, walked outside to find ice on my windshield, and walked into school 20 minutes late (late for me.... not technically late). School was great. My favorite quote from today was from a child responding the following statement: "You are going to be persuading me to take the class on field trip to the beach. What can you tell me that will change my mind?" Here's what one little one said: "I know!! I can persuade you by saying we can make multiplication arrays with seashells!" Talk about winning a teacher's heart :) After school, went to my two workout classes in Buckhead. I take kickbox cardio for an hour followed by advanced step aerobics for an hour. Step is one of my passions in life.... it does something to me that no other workout can do. I LOVE IT!!! Bachelor is on and of course the drama never ends.... guess that's why I tune in each week :)

Day 1

This is my first day of blogging for 365 days. I don't know if I am going to succeed, but we will try. I have a few people who have inspired me so I am thinking if they can, I can. Today, I hung out with Lauren. We went to Einstein's and Baskin Robbins. I felt lame because I got chocolate chip cookie dough and she got some ridiculous medley of raspberry and white chocolate. I decided to bail on my Super Bowl party so that I could get ready for school tomorrow. Was I productive? No. Instead I went to Wal-Mart and got ingredients for a baked buffalo chicken dip and made it for my "roommates" aka mom, dad, and brudder. While I was at Wal-Mart, I went to go get conversation hearts for my mom's class. She was going to give each of them a few hearts and they had to write a story using them. Um, thank goodness I read the possibilities because conversation hearts nowadays are not G rated. I called her and convinced her she would get some X-rated papers. Definitely hilarious! I watched the Super Bowl sort of.... I saw the halftime and the amazing interception by the Saints. I don't watch NFL football so I based my decision off of Reggie Bush for which team I'd pull for.... he dates Kim Kardashian and for some reason I love her and her show. I love this picture because it reminds me of the awesome times I've had in Nola!
