Day 272

Last night was so much fun! Sleepover party at Lauren's! She woke me up at 8:30. Eight freaking thirty. I threatened our friendship if she didn't let me go back to sleep. She listened. We officially woke up at 10:30. Went to lunch then did some car swaps. I drove home to have my mama help me with my benefits stuff. It was good to see the fam! Our house is looking pretty awesome with some new additions. Looks much better than the big pile of dirt I saw the last time I was there! Hung out there for a bit then decided that the new Menchie's by Lassiter was a must. I've never been to a Menchie's before, but I have been to a ton of froyo places in Cali and Athens. Loved it! However, I faced a problem. You know when you start grabbing gummy worms and strawberry pop rocks mixed with chocolate that it's not going to taste the best. My froyo was so bad I couldn't even eat it. Haha. I'll try it again next time with this in mind: less is more, less is more! The rest of my night consists of laundry (lame), grading (lame), grocery shopping (lame), and working out (hallelujah)! Have a super night people!!

Day 271

Woke up at 12:30. OH YEAH! Ate lunch. Now I'm creating documents for school (I truly should start my own worksheet business with Meghan at this pt), grading papers, and watching the dawgs do a great job! Goal (if enough time)= workout. Tonight I am going to help Kacie celebrate her birthday :) Happy birthday Kaceface!

Day 270

Gonna be honest. Today was a rough one.

One thing that sticks out to me as being one of the worst pts of the day was when my knee popped out of place. Usually, I can get it back in. Not this time :(.... it was STUCK for a good solid (what seemed like) 83482349 hours! Or maybe 10 seconds? Regardless, it hurt. It's all because of a cheerleading accident I had in high school. I tore my ACL and MCL. I don't think I realized how much it would affect my life past that time period. Ouch! I'm 25 and I ache.

Luckily, my mama puts all of our family photos on snapfish. I was curious to see the pics from my surgery. I found the famous one that I am convinced will be used against me one day... more than likely my wedding or something. This picture was literally taken right when I saw my mom after I woke up from the surgery. I said, "Look what I can do!!!" as I touched my tongue to my nose (yeah right, not even close haha). At least it wasn't as bad as when I crawled on the floor out to the parking lot when I had my wisdom teeth out :)

Someone should video tape me next time! For real. It's apparently a sight to see :)

Day 269

Kids truly do say the funniest things. Today was one of those days where I had to literally hold in a big laugh. :D Let me set up the scene for you....

Who: My class and I (and two student teachers observing me)

What: Reading a story called Beatrice Doesn't Want To (a story about a little girl who doesn't want to read, but eventually realizes that she loves to read through her experiences)

Where: My classroom on the carpet

When: Today

Why: I read them a story then the students were going to write about what they think probably happened after the story ended.

Before I read the story or even read the title (key point), I held up the book and said, "What do you think this story might be about based on just glancing at the cover?"

--Kid #1: I think it's going to be about a girl that doesn't want to clean her room.
--Kid #2: Look, she has her books and backpack, I think she doesn't want to go to school.
--Kid #3: Yeah, I think she doesn't want to clean her room. I hate to clean my room!
--Kid #4: (with a huge SMILE) I know I know!!! I think she doesn't want to eat her beat rice.
--Me: Her beat rice? (I look over at two student teachers that were in the room observing me to see if they caught on to what she was talking about. I look back at the child in confusion.) What do you mean "beat rice"?
--Kid #4: Yes, Ms. Wexler. Seeeeeee! At the top it says "BEAT RICE".... "B-E-A-T.... R-I-C-E".
Me (thinking out loud): OOOOOHHHHHH!!!! (realizing she thought Beatrice the name was separated into a food.... beat rice) .......

Of course we discussed that I could see where she would think that, but that it actually said Beatrice, which was the character's name. I was actually impressed that she chunked the word and used the words on the cover to try and gain meaning for what might happen.

In my three whole years of teaching, this definitely goes down as top 3 of favorite quotes/memories from a student. It made my heart smile <3 :)

Day 268

School. Cheerleading. McCormick and Schmick's for some food and fun. I don't do oysters and crab legs, but I still enjoyed in on the extravaganza. Currently, LJ and I are jamming out. IMAGINE THAT!

Day 267

I have a friend that is going through a very hard time right now. I pray that she has the strength to cope with the struggles she is facing right now. I find ease through the power of prayer. I know everything she is going through is in His hands.

A favorite song that I have that reminds me how powerful our God is happens to be called "Our God" by Chris Tomlin.

Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God…
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God…

Day 266

Most of the time I was a nice little one, but as you can see I took advantage of my brother doing anything I told him to. HAHA.

This makes me smile. I remember those days like it was yesterday.

This is me in 2nd grade. Weird!

I post these pictures tonight for two reasons... 1) They put me in a good mood to look back on it all. 2) I heart my brother.
